The Art Institute of Boston (AIB) is part of Lesley University, rated one of America's 'Best Colleges' by US News & World Report and named a 'Best Northeastern College' by the Princeton Review. Founded in 1912 AIB offers a 4 year Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree, with majors available in fine arts, animation, illustration, design, photography and art history. AIB also provide a 2 year Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degree and a 5 year dual degree program as well as continuing professional education, workshops and pre-college courses. A 2-year Advanced Professional Certificate is available for students who have completed a Bachelor's Degree (BFA, BA, BS) and want to pursue a career in art as an illustrator, animator or designer.

Established in 1873 the Massachusetts College of Art and Design (MassArt) offers undergraduate Bachelor of Fine Art (BFA) degrees with majors in painting, photography, sculpture, fibers, ceramics, printmaking, stained glass, film/video, art history, architectural design, fashion design, jewellery art and metalsmithing, museum education and community studio education. MassArt offer Masters of Fine Art (MFA) degrees as well as Masters of Architecture, Arts in Teaching, Science in Art Education and Photography. The college runs post-baccalaureate certificate programs in dynamic media, fashion design, furniture design, graphic design, industrial design and photography.

Annual Tuition Fee: Massachusetts Resident $9,000, New England Resident $15,700, Out of State Resident $25,400.

Montserrat College of Art, Beverly

The Montserrat College of Art, is a relatively new school, established during the 1960s. The college offers Bachelor of Fine Art (BFA) degrees with majors in various types of art including animation, interactive media, book arts, graphic design, illustration, interdisciplinary arts, painting, drawing, photography, video, printmaking and sculpture. Minors in art history and creative writing also offered.

School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston

About
Established in 1876, the School of the Museum of Fine Arts (SMFA) has a community of nearly 1,000 artists. The Bachelor of Fine Art (BFA) degree is split between teaching liberal arts at Tufts University and intensive studio arts training SMFA. Majors offered include drawing, painting, ceramics, sculpture, illustration, photography, printmaking, sound, video art, glass, metals and animation. Master of Fine Arts (MFA) students are enrolled at both Tufts University and SMFA and graduate after 2 or 3 years with an MFA degree from Tufts. A 1 year Master of Arts in Teaching in Art Education (MAT) is also available and students will graduate with a MAT degree from Tufts. One year Post-Baccalaureate Certificates also provided.

Wheaton College, Norton

About
Founded in 1834, Wheaton College offers a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in more than 40 majors and 50 minors. The Art and Art History Department of the college comprises 2 different programs, each with its own major and minor: the making of art (Studio Art) and the history of art (Art History). Studio art requires at least 12 semester courses including arts of the western tradition, 2-D design and drawing. Additional semester courses offered are: graphic art, painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture and filmmaking. The annual tuition fees are considerable.
