Founded in 1931, Ringling College of Art and Design is one of the top colleges of art and design in the western world. The Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) is a 4 year degree program offering a sequence of studio art, art history and liberal arts courses designed to create professional artists and designers. All students begin the Core Studio program, which includes courses in drawing, color, figure and design, as well as introductory courses in their chosen major. Majors are pursued in the second year and electives can be used to pursue minors or develop other areas of interest. Majors available include fine arts, illustration, painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture, game art and design, motion design, interior design, digital filmmaking and computer animation.

The University of Central Florida, College of Arts & Humanities recently announced the formation of the School of Visual Arts and Design. The new facility combines traditional and new media arts with emerging media concepts which are the foundation of animation, game and interactive design. The school offers majors in Art Studio (BA, BFA), Visual Arts and Emerging Media Management (BA), Digital Media (BA), Photography (BS), Art History (BA) and Emerging Media (BFA). Minors are offered in history of art, community arts and digital media.
