As the second city in the Republic of Ireland, the largest urban area in Munster and a former European Capital of Culture, Cork boasts a wide variety of arts venues displaying the best of Irish visual arts, encompassing drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics as well as the more avant-garde art forms of conceptual, installation and video art.

Cork's top municipal art spaces include: the Crawford Art Gallery and the Lewis Glucksman Gallery at University College Cork (UCC); while independent display venues include: Buckley Fine Art, the Fenton Gallery, the Lavit Gallery, the Vangard Gallery and the Cork Vision Centre.

Following its major refurbishment, Triskel has expanded and strengthened its reputation as an innovative platform for the arts encompassing Irish art, as well as performing arts like music, and theatre. Accomodates a ground and first floor gallery, education Workshop and two artists studios.
