Vangard Gallery

Opened in Cork in 1991, the Vangard Gallery is dedicated to promoting international as well as Cork art throughout the Munster region in the South of Ireland. It now has a reputation for showing high quality Irish painting, and Irish sculpture and prints by emerging as well as established Irish and international artists. Located close to the Crawford Art Gallery in the heart of Cork city, the Vangard stages 12 exhibitions each year.

Originating in the artistic depths of Macroom, the Vangard Gallery is owned and run by John P. Quinlan. His skill in appraising quality paintings, and his ability to persuade top artists (eg. Sean MacSweeney, Michael Cullen, Jane and Tony O'Malley) to exhibit their works, was the foundation for what followed. In 2000, the Gallery moved to its present Cork city venue in the pedestrianised Huguenot quarter.
