Sirius Arts Centre

Set up in 1988, the Sirius Arts Centre was established to give the Old Yacht Club in Cobh a new lease of life as a venue for contemporary arts and culture, serving the East Cork area. Funded by the Irish Arts Council, Cork County Council and other bodies, Sirius Arts Centre is dedicated to promoting the awareness, understanding and practice of Irish visual art, including both Irish painting and Irish sculpture. Over the past twenty years, Sirius has developed a flourishing program of Cork art shows, artist residencies, community arts projects, workshops, seminars and lectures. It remains the only arts centre in East Cork and has become an integral part of the cultural life of the region. Cobh continues its development as a heritage town and the Sirius Arts Centre is an important element of that plan.
